I don’t care much for reality tv. In fact, I pretty much hate it. Yup. But this opinion on the “Racial” Survivor show was funny and intelligent:

First, unless four white cops get caught on videotape billy-clubbing a black man, and then all get let off the hook, television has little or no power to inspire racial violence. Second, Americans don’t rise up for anything nowadays, or else people would be rioting over unleaded being $3 a gallon and the president continuing a war most of us oppose. And third, dividing “Survivor” into ethnic tribes is more likely to keep people off the streets and in their homes watching TV, where they ought to be.

My favorite was the “American’s don’t rise up for anything nowadays” bit. SO TRUE. SO SAD!

We need more riots!

This reminds me of a conversation I had last night about how congress needs to grow a backbone and confront the president about the crap job he’s doing. Americans who oppose stuff need to lose their Birkenstock sandals and stop being apathetic. (joke shamelessly stolen from Sherman Alexie) blah blah.

Anyway, somehow that political criticism has seeped into a commentary about reality TV. That’s the kind of “American” mentality I’d like to see more of in general.

Someone tell me who they really are? I’m 99% sure they’re from Vancouver BC… seeing as how they once had cast from BATTLESTAR GALACTICA on the set and their webdesigners are from Vancouver. But weren’t they in something else? Lala is wayyy too hot to not be a model or an actor or something else that would allow her to make a living off of her… um… “charisma.”

They’re just way cool and they need to make more shows. So addicted. They also need to get Sixth on the show. haha.

Not very many things can make me actually say “omg ponies!!” out LOUD (and with non-slashdot readers around), but this fucking did.

Someone explain to me why the FRACK it took the cylons a whole year to travel one light-year when they’ve always had better FTL capabilities than the fleet?

Seems like a plot/script/whatever error.

It would have been funny if they didn’t have FTL capabilities. BUT THEY DO. SO IT WASN’T. It was just STOOPID.

Edit: DUH. Buddha-X (in the comments) reminded me… DUH. It’s going to take exactly a year for the light from the bomb’s explosion to travel a light-year. (the bomb being the thing that alerted the cylon’s to their location.)

Now that they’re planning on auctioning off all the firefly costumes, does this mean that there will be no more movies? Ever? I thought that a second or third movie was sort of on the to-do list if Joss could manage it…

Did I miss some kind of statement from Joss about the official demise of firefly?

Can someone help catch me up? Stupid school has been stealing my life away… :(

The polar bear [on the island] is white. It is a known fact that a polar bear’s fur is not white but it is hollow and clear. A polar bear is white because of the refection of the snow on itself. If it was a real polar bear it wouldn’t have been white

Then why are bears white at the zoo? Do they spray-paint them? hahaha.

I scored the battlestar galactica soundtrack today.

I rule. And so does it.

I also scored an awesome collection of sound files from Firefly. Every single sound and music clip from the DVDs apparently. I love thepiratebay.org. :) So far, my favorite clip is the 19 seconds called “Reaver Theme”. It’s got Jayne at the end going “god. oh god. oh god.”

In Other News: mood swings suck. badly. But I went for a nice long bike ride… and then made the mistake of sitting down and resting right afterwards, so now my legs are really really sore.

Body is sore for other reasons too, which is related to the mood swings. But fuck if I’m going to get into that.

*sigh*

I have to go feed Cody’s fish now.

In the Battlestar Galactica miniseries, at 14:44, the camera is looking out the window in the doctor’s office, and I swear on my pretty floral bonnet that there is a firefly ship that flies through the sky. If someone could help me figure out how to take a screenshot of the video in linux (It’s only copying a blue screen instead of the video’s image), I could prove it.

But I swear to god it’s a firefly. It’s a clear shot, relatively big. There’s no mistaking it.

Fucking awesome.
