So Billy is reviving the Pumpkins apparently.

For me, the pumpkins represented an era in my life… and their split kind of accelerated my passage through some painful and difficult times (yay high school). I dealt with their “death” the way I dealt with the “death” of that time period I guess…

so… I’ve got mixed feelings about them “getting back together”. I’m partly disappointed. and partly thrilled. But mostly I’ve just got mixed feelings.

Also, the fact that the letter and the news sources I’ve read claim that there is no real word about what the other band members think about Billy trying to resurrect the pumpkins leads me to believe that it’s just a Billy/Jimmy thing, and they might just try to pull together a few more people and just “call” the thing the “pumpkins”.

I wish Billy wouldn’t name another band the Smashing Pumpkins… I wish he’d just let them exist as something passed, as Pure Awesome in memory. What’s wrong with releasing music under the name ‘Billy Corgan’ ?

And lastly, why does this even matter so much to me??. It’s just a name. What difference does it really make?

Is anyone else as conflicted over this as I am?

I rule I rule I rule I rule!! Now I’ve got all four of them. God damn how long it took me to finally find this one! (You suck at life if you don’t know how awesome this is.)

The music videos for Zwan’s “Honestly” and “Lyric” are the most disgusting pointless sequence of shiny happy images I’ve ever seen.

It’s cheesy alterna-pop, and the videos are crappy metaphysical 80s-style nonsense. It’s worse than the stuff I usually condemn… at least that crap gets on MTV.

I really wish that someone could convince me that Zwan was worth listening to, because I’m very unhappy with the idea of never finding another “favorite band” to follow around for the rest of my life.

The second most awesome band on the planet is Our Lady Peace.

I keep coming back to this, but I’ve for some reason never allowed myself to get as… ?intimate? with them as I did with the Pumpkins. I swear it’s like falling in love… I like-like them, but I’m afraid of getting hurt like I did with SP. So, I’ll listen, then distance myself, and then come back.

Well… I should grow a backbone. In more ways than one. Either that or just recognize that they are just a band and it’s ok to love them.

Happy birthday Billy Corgan.

In Other News: I’m in a really good mood. So nice. Sunshine in my brain. So warm. :)

Woke up this morning to half a dozen messages (including one from my mom) about Zwan’s debut album. I thought it was funny. Funny because contrary to popular belief I’m not a huge Zwan fan. My love is still for the pumpkins and no amount of Billy’s grandstanding is going to change that.

Still. It was funny. And made me feel special that so many people tried to contact me about it mere hours after their respective clocks reflected the album’s availability in their area. This is the first “news” type thing to happen related to the pumpkins since… oh I don’t know… their death.

Yeah, I’m gonna go try to find the album today… someplace cheap though, because I’m broke.

I feel like this is not even part of my world anymore. Funny how the pumpkins consumed so much of my mental, psychic and emotional energy for so long… and yet, the release of this newest Billy-type project has me feeling merely obligated to say something about it because I claim to be a pumpkins fan.

Maybe I’m no longer a fan… maybe I’m just a Pumpkins-geek. Ask me any random question about the Pumpkins and I could probably tell you the answer.

And yes, that is a challenge. :)

I finally own more non-Smashing Pumpkins cds than I have Pumpkins.

Who’d have thought that Borders would carry one of the Smashing Pumpkins tribute albums? I got really dizzy when I saw it in the pumpkins section. :) In case any pumpkins fans see this, the album kicks ass! It has such a range of styles… techno interpretation of Bullet with Butterfly Wings, a strings instrumental version of Disarm and Tonight Tonight… Lots of awesome stuff. :) All made by fans for fans and for our pumpkins… *sigh* I remember emailing the guy when it was first announced that some tribute albums were going to be produced. I wish I had tried to contribute. Oh well. :) I don’t even own a guitar anymore…
