Now that they’re planning on auctioning off all the firefly costumes, does this mean that there will be no more movies? Ever? I thought that a second or third movie was sort of on the to-do list if Joss could manage it…
Did I miss some kind of statement from Joss about the official demise of firefly?

Those are just some of the costumes used on the TV series and not on the movie. The costume designer for the show (Shawna Trpcic)is raising a few bucks for her kid’s college fund by auctioning them off.

yeah i read the part about the designer trying to raise money. But, auctioning off the costumes still implies that they won’t be used any more.
is the movie costume designer a completely different person?

I haven’t heard any official thing about the demise of Firefly either. But I do know that even though Serenity was frickin’ awesome….it bombed. Majorly. I don’t know how much it ended up raking in in the end but it wasn’t much. So I wouldn’t be suprised if there were no more movies made. The other 2 movies depended on how well this one did.

Unfortunately they didn’t market it towards people who never watched the series. So if you didn’t watch it there were so many references and things in the movie that fell on dead ears.

Yes, it was a different person and the costumes for the TV weren’t used in the film.

Besides, they always make new costumes for movies. Look at the Star Trek franchise: every movie they had new costumes, even though they look the same. And look at Obi-Wan in the prequel trilogy: his costume was almost exactly the same, but still different every time. Plus, multiples of each outfit are made, in case they get dirty and stuff. Don’t worry, costumes being sold does not mean there won’t be more.
Here’s where I admit that I’m a loser and haven’t watched either the series or the movie… I suck!

I’m still waiting to watch disc 4 before I see the movie, this thread scared the crap out of me. The simple fact is, no matter how lousy it did in theaters (or how bad ratings were for the TV show) the DVDs for the movie should sell like girl scout cookies after an OA meeting…
Two other movies…woohoo, I can’t wait to see them. I have plenty of faith at this point…

Yep… was a decent show…. never had time to watch it though. As it is the plug is being pulled! I know a lot of people are upset of it. I swear the newtork was trying to sink the show!
