pumpkins confusion

So Billy is reviving the Pumpkins apparently.

For me, the pumpkins represented an era in my life… and their split kind of accelerated my passage through some painful and difficult times (yay high school). I dealt with their “death” the way I dealt with the “death” of that time period I guess…

so… I’ve got mixed feelings about them “getting back together”. I’m partly disappointed. and partly thrilled. But mostly I’ve just got mixed feelings.

Also, the fact that the letter and the news sources I’ve read claim that there is no real word about what the other band members think about Billy trying to resurrect the pumpkins leads me to believe that it’s just a Billy/Jimmy thing, and they might just try to pull together a few more people and just “call” the thing the “pumpkins”.

I wish Billy wouldn’t name another band the Smashing Pumpkins… I wish he’d just let them exist as something passed, as Pure Awesome in memory. What’s wrong with releasing music under the name ‘Billy Corgan’ ?

And lastly, why does this even matter so much to me??. It’s just a name. What difference does it really make?

Is anyone else as conflicted over this as I am?

Firefly in battlestar galactica!

In the Battlestar Galactica miniseries, at 14:44, the camera is looking out the window in the doctor’s office, and I swear on my pretty floral bonnet that there is a firefly ship that flies through the sky. If someone could help me figure out how to take a screenshot of the video in linux (It’s only copying a blue screen instead of the video’s image), I could prove it.

But I swear to god it’s a firefly. It’s a clear shot, relatively big. There’s no mistaking it.

Fucking awesome.

Moving day!

On a piece of scrap paper on my floor while I was cleaning:

“harsh version: I’d rather be a tease than a slut.”

you go girl. Or something.

I wonder when I wrote that. and why.

Mac OSX cd burning headaches…

Can someone explain why OS X’s Finder reports 700mb cds as 660? I found a way to work around this (here) and burn cds that are larger than 660, but it’s through the terminal, and involves creating an iso. What I really want is for the Finder to correctly recognize the size of a blank cd so that I can use the GUI.

If the Finder is just stupid like this, and i shouldn’t be using it to burn cds, are there free alternatives to it?

Update: I’m now using YuBurner as my burning software of choice. Seems to be working nicely.

I still want to kick OSX though. And I had so much trust in it. :(
