Battlestar Galactica is the best thing I’ve seen since Firefly. Yeah sure, it has had it’s slow moments… entire episodes devoted to a few pointless plot twists that have little to do with the main story. But holy shit mother of gawd, that show is good. Probably should have been a movie trilogy instead of a tv series, but I’m glad it’s here in some form.

she spelled gawd with an ‘aw’ instead of an ‘o’… when you spell it like that, it’s not supposed to represent jesus… it’s supposed to represent buddha or one of those other fake gods, so as to be less offensive

Yeah. BSG is like my new favorite series. It’s really really really good. Have you seen the season 1 Finale yet???? If not you’re in for a real shocker.

Mike, you know I swear. I’ve been saying “holy shit” since the age of 13. I said it even while we were dating. We’ve talked about this. You promised to try to accept me as I am (including my choice to swear) after we started being friends again. I remember talking about this specific thing on our way to Bento.

Anyway, have you watched the whole battlestar series? Including the miniseries? and the season finale? I didn’t think it was that great until I saw both ends of it. The mid-season episodes are relatively slow… great acting and writing, which makes it yummy to me anyway, but… yeah. I will own this someday soon. until then, there’s bittorrent.

I just can’t bring myself to watch that show. I was a huge fan of the original series from the 70’s when I was a kid (we watched reruns), and I can’t handle the idea of Starbuck as a woman >.

Starbuck was originally a guy?! wow. I’m really curious about the original series now. There is so much of the story centered around the fact that starbuck is a guy. her relationship with Apollo’s brother and his dad. holy shit. wow.
I wonder how that dynamic between them all worked in the original series. :) I’ll have to find out sometime.
I’ve never seen the 4400, but I’d like to. it’s on my list to watch. :)

A whole lot of people were pissed off when the new show started, and made Starbuck a chick.
Then they watched a few episodes, and realized that the new series is just plain better. Especially Starbuck.
The “they” I refer to are several castmembers of the original series.

Heh. I’m coming home a day early just so I can watch BSG.
Stupid Scifi channel, always scheduling season finales and cool shit to coincide with spring break… exactly when I am least able to watch it, since the Scifi channel is nowhere to be seen out here.
I only saw a couple episodes of the miniseries due to this. When the series came out, I hoped that it would start off with the miniseries episodes, but it didn’t… so I guess I missed some stuff.
But yeah, the new BSG definitely outshines the old one. At first I was skeptical - I dont’ know if you remember, but when we lived in Buxton soph. year I made my daily schedule revolve around the original BSG series when sci-fi channel aired the entire series all in one go. It was really cheesy, but entertaining. Still, I can see why it wasn’t wildly popular.
The new one is way better. Especially the Cylons. They were the dumbest evil villains ever in the old one.

Yep, Starbuck was originally played by the same guy who played Face on the A-Team, Dirk Benedict (whom I used to have a HUGE crush on when I was little). Also, the whole reason the “remake” got made is because Richard Hatch (the original Apollo) approached SciFi, asking them to let him help make a continuation of the original series. They took all the rights to the show and the original characters, and made the show behind Hatch’s back, without his input.

It wasn’t really a “premiere” since they didn’t plan on making the present series. The miniseries was last year, I thought. I haven’t been in the dorms for two years…
If you have the whole miniseries I’d love to borrow it. For one thing, I’d like to know how they ended up with so few nukes left. I presume they launched a bunch during the miniseries sometime and I missed it.
