I am confused.
I have this very deep feeling that I don’t understand why a declaration of war is necessary. Is there clear evidence that Iraq really has the US on its shitlist? Or is this just Bush (and his Dad) on a personal vendetta?
It wouldn’t have come this far if there wasn’t good evidence and clear reasons for it… right? This can’t all just be politics and trying to distract the public from the economic situation… or the Democrats trying to get the upper hand on the Republicans (or vice versa, or whatever the fuck about the Dem/Rep thing that would be relevant to this)
I just called my dad because I thought Brandi said it was “7:54″… not “11:54″. *sigh*

well, from what i gather – and it has been known that i don’t always gather everything 100% – we have been at war for a while now … in some sense of the word because we had some troops deployed and shit like that … tanks moving around over there and what not … (as far as i understand) – what the congressional decision did – is put a lot of psychological pressure on iraq – it did not, in itself, declare war … i haven’t heard little B actually say that “this is WAR” … however he now does have the “official” power to do that and so that is where the psychological aspect of it comes in …. that’s how i look at it … partly because i try to think positively about the whole thing – there is still hope – a little :)
i mean what the hell is little B thinking … that a war will somehow help the economy get back on track? id does not take a genius to figure out that war and good economy don’t mix – shit – i could also be drafted … technically speaking – if there is a war … that would like massively sucK … yes it would ..
.. ok i am done now ..
There is a difference between what Bush has been calling a “war on terrorism” and also the positioning of forces around Iraq. A declaration of war is something different. We are not at war with Iraq yet. Maybe we won’t be. I understand that Congress gave Bush a sort of “temporary” power over the armed forces and that he has to submit reports etc… but no actual declaration of war was made. If a declaration of war really was made, I don’t believe Dubya would be required to submit reports.
If you get drafted Val, tell them it is against your religion or something. Just don’t go. I can’t have two brothers fighting out there. *cries*
War and good economy always mix.
